Natalie Portman to Play Jackie Kennedy in Upcoming Biopic
Jakarta. Hollywood actress Natalie Portman will play Jacqueline "Jackie" Kennedy in an upcoming biopic by Pablo Larrain, slated for release in 2017.
The film, simply titled "Jackie," will follow the former US first lady in the four days after President John F. Kennedy's assassination in Dallas in 1963.
According to Variety, Portman will act alongside Peter Sarsgaard, Greta Gerwig and John Hunt. The screenplay is by Noah Oppenheim, while Darren Aronofsky, who directed Portman in her Oscar-winning turn in the ballet drama "Black Swan," produces "Jackie" alongside his Protozoa Pictures partners, Scott Franklin and Ari Handel.
Portman is currently also preparing to star in Marielle Heller's "Diary of a Teenage Girl," in which she will play another iconic political figure — the US Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
For Chilean director Larrain, who recently received a Golden Globe nomination for best foreign language film for "The Club," the Jackie Kennedy film will be his first English-language feature.
