Raisa on the Run for Best Southeast Asian Act at MTV Awards

JakartaSinger Raisa will soon learn the result of her Best Southeast Asian Act nomination at the MTV Europe Music Awards to be held in Rotterdam, Netherlands, Nov. 6.

Raisa will face off against Malaysian superstar Yuna, Vietnam's Dong Nhi, Gentle Bones from Singapore, Philippine entrant Sarah Geronimo, Malaysia's Bunkface and Thaitanium from Thailand.

Famous for hit songs including "Kali Kedua" ("The Second Time") and "Pemeran Utama" ("Main Character"), Raisa grabbed the attention of MTV through her vocal talents and look. Her personality, which comes through her songs, and passion are celebrated on MTV EMA's website.

Raisa considers the nomination an honor as it gives her a chance to be the first Indonesian to bring home an EMA trophy.

"It is such an honor to represent Indonesia in an event this big," Raisa said in a post on her Instagram when nominations were announced in September.

Previously, Indonesia has been represented three times by the band Noah and once by singer Agnez Mo although neither took out the award.

Grammy winning singer Beyonce leads the nominations overall at the awards with six, followed by Justin Bieber on five and Adele with four.

The MTV EMAs will broadcast live on MTV (channel 220 on FirstMedia, channel 257 on BIGTV and FMX) on Monday Nov. 7, at 12 a.m with a repeated screening at 7 p.m.
