New Cyber-Unit Launched to Prevent Misuse of Military's Strategic Data
Jakarta. Gen. Gatot Nurmantyo, chief of the Indonesian Military, or TNI, ordered the institution's new cyber-unit on Friday (13/10) to protect sensitive government data and information from attack by hackers or other irresponsible parties.
Gatot said the military must find a way to protect the country's big data from hackers who use sophisticated technology to crack a country's cyberdefense.
"We must protect strategic data and information from threats and interruptions. We have to upgrade the TNI's cyberdefense capacity to incorporate prevention, action and recovery abilities," Gatot said in a statement.
The TNI's new cyber-unit will be able to prevent or ward off an attacks on the country, the four-star general added.
President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo signed a regulation in June that paved the way for the establishment of the National Cyber Encryption Agency (BSSN).
