Jakarta. Several high profile activists including Sri Bintang Pamungkas and Ratna Sarumpaet were detained for questioning shortly before dawn on Friday (02/12) by police investigators citing alleged treason.

"Eight people have been arrested and are undergoing interrogation by the Jakarta Police," National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Boy Rafli Amar confirmed Friday morning.

While Boy stopped short of identifying who had been arrested, unconfirmed sources have pointed to Sri Bintang, Ratna, Rachmawati Sukarnoputri, rockstar Ahmad Dhani and former army general Kivlan Zen among others.

“Ratna said she would be questioned since there was evidence that showed she and several friends have planned an effort of treason,” former minister and law expert Yusril Ihza Mahendra said on Friday.

Ratna and several activists have planned to stage a protest at the Parliamentary Complex on Friday to demand a special plenary meeting to revoke the fourth amendment of the 1945 Constitution (UUD '45) as the state’s constitution and return to its unrevised version.

Yusril said he will provide legal aid for several of the questioned.
