Actress Sandra Dewi Testifies in Tin Trading Corruption Case

Jakarta. The Attorney General's Office (AGO) has revealed that around 140 individuals have been questioned as witnesses in the alleged corruption case at state-owned tin miner Timah. The corruption is estimated to have resulted in environmental damage worth hundreds of trillion rupiah.
One of the witnesses questioned is actress Sandra Dewi, the wife of the suspect Harvey Moeis. Harvey was arrested on March 27 over allegations that he acted as a middleman to help a private firm, Refined Bangka Tin (RBT), illegally manage mining areas belonging to Timah.
"Please don't spread fake news," Sandra said following the questioning on Thursday.
Kuntadi, the Director of Investigation at the AGO's Special Criminal Prosecutor's Office, mentioned that they are still collecting evidence and testimonies for the illegal tin corruption case.
"So far, there have been around 140 witnesses," he added.
Sandra complied with the AGO's summons as a witness, accompanied by two lawyers. The examination aimed to clarify issues regarding her husband's alleged involvement in illegal tin mining corruption, which is estimated to have caused environmental damage totaling Rp 271 trillion ($17 billion), according to calculations by environmental expert Professor Bambang Hero Saharjo from the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB).
"We are examining whether the previously blocked accounts are related to the corrupt actions or not," said Kuntadi in Jakarta on Thursday.
Furthermore, the examination of Sandra is also conducted to ensure that Kejagung does not make mistakes in seizing assets related to the alleged tin trading corruption case.
AGO's investigators executed a search at the residence of Harvey and Sandra in South Jakarta on Monday. The search conducted in the Pakubuwono area yielded a Rolls Royce, and a Mini Cooper, as well as electronic devices and documents linked to the suspect's criminal activities. The seized Rolls-Royce was Harvey's gift for Sandra.
Regarding the blocked accounts, Kuntadi refused to disclose the exact amount. Meanwhile, several other assets owned by Harvey Moeis, such as a private jet and a house in Australia, are still under examination to determine whether they need to be seized or not.
Additionally, the AGO has questioned two other witnesses related to the alleged corruption case of illegal tin mining. The two witnesses are AGR, the Commissioner of Refined Bangka Tin (RBT), one of Indonesia's major tin ingot producers, and KNNG, an employee of RBT.
The examination of these two witnesses aims to strengthen evidence and complete the dossier on the alleged corruption case in the management of tin commodity trade within the state-owned tin miner Timah area from 2015 to 2022 under the name of the suspect TN alias AN.
Furthermore, the Attorney General's Office has named 16 suspects in the case.
Previously, businessman Robert Bonosusatya was interrogated at the Attorney General's Office on Monday. Kuntadi said that Robert's interrogation aimed to ascertain his involvement with RBT, whether Robert served as a manager, or a business owner, or had no connection at all.
Kuntadi refused to disclose Robert's connection to the suspects in the tin corruption case, saying that it remains under investigation.
Robert previously served as the president commissioner of Citra Marga Nusaphala Persada, a toll road operator company.
Robert also served as the former president commissioner of Jasuindo Tiga Perkasa, a company engaged in the printing and security document business, which once won the printing project for vehicle registration certificate (BPKB), vehicle registration certificate (STNK), and driving license (SIM) at the Indonesian National Police's Traffic Directorate.
