Anies and Muhaimin Attend Prabowo's Declaration as President-Elect

Jakarta. Presidential and vice-presidential candidate Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar (Anies-Cak Imin) attended the declaration ceremony of Prabowo Subianto and his running mate, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, as the elected president and vice president at the General Election Commission (KPU) office on Imam Bonjol Street, Menteng, Jakarta, on Wednesday.
"We respect the electoral process. That's why we are here," said Anies at the KPU office.
Anies and Cak Imin arrived at the KPU office at 10:05 a.m.
However, Anies stated that his attendance at Prabowo's declaration event did not overlook the ongoing process of the 2024 Presidential Election dispute trial at the Constitutional Court (MK). There are several notes from the MK for future improvements.
"We are fully engaged while keeping in mind that during the MK trial yesterday, there were numerous observations that should be taken into account for future improvements," Anies emphasized.
On Monday, the Constitutional Court affirmed Prabowo Subianto's victory in the February 14 presidential election. The court rejected a motion by Anies Baswedan and another presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo, who demanded a vote annulment, citing insufficient legal grounds and evidence.
Anies and Ganjar accused President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo of interfering in the election by letting his son, Gibran, run with Prabowo and disbursed social aid to influence voters. They also alleged favoritism, noting that Gibran became eligible as a VP candidate after the Constitutional Court amended the minimum age requirement in October, overseen by then Chief Justice Anwar Usman, who is Gibran’s uncle.
The KPU has extended invitations to all three pairs of presidential and vice-presidential candidates to attend the declaration ceremony.
It remains unclear whether Ganjar and his VP candidate, Mohammad Mahfud MD, will attend the ceremony.
Based on the vote count, Prabowo-Gibran successfully obtained 96,214,691 votes, equivalent to 58.59 percent. Meanwhile, Anies-Cak Imin received 40,971,906 votes or 24.95 percent, and Ganjar-Mahfud MD received 27,040,878 votes or 16.47 percent.
