Asian Games Boxer Valentinus Nahak Dies at 22
Jakarta. Flyweight boxer Valentinus Nahak, who was going to represent Indonesia during the 2018 Asian Games, succumbed to lymphatic cancer on Thursday (02/08).
Valentinus, 22, died at Sanglah Hospital in Denpasar, Bali.
His condition started to deteriorate in February, when after being selected by Indonesia's boxing association to participate in the Games, he lost a test fight with Thailand's Kritiphak Duangnut.
The silver medalist of the 2016 National Sports Week (PON) was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer in early June.
"[...] Indonesia has lost a great boxer, Valentinus Nahak, who died on Thursday at 7:35 p.m. at Sanglah Hospital in Bali. Rest in peace, Valen, your sporting spirit won't be forgotten," the Ministry of Sports said on its Twitter account @Kemenpora_RI.
