Jakarta. Bandung Mayor Ridwan Kamil said the city remains religiously tolerant, as he attended an open house event at the Santo Petrus church in Bandung, West Java, on Monday evening (25/12).

Present at the Christmas event were also several religious figures and representatives from the city's civil and youth organizations.

The open house confirms that Bandung is a city that upholds peace, Ridwan said.

"Don't always seek differences within similarities, but seek similarities within differences instead. ... We have to work hard to maintain peace in life, that's priceless," he said.

Events like Monday's have been held since the past 10 years to strengthen harmony between religious communities, said Bandung Bishop Antonius Subianto.

"Bandung is becoming more and more tolerant as a city. Members of the public also have to retain this," he said.
