Basuki to Meet Singaporean Business to Drum Up Infrastructure Investment
Jakarta. Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama will meet with Singaporean officials and business leaders in an efforts to attract investment and support the capital's infrastructure projects.
Executives from city-owned firms like Jakarta Propertindo, known as Jakpro, Mass Rapid Transit Jakarta and Bank DKI will join Basuki at the meeting to be held at the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore.
The high-level gathering will highlight Jakarta's ambitious infrastructure projects, such as the Light Rail Transit (LRT), low-cost apartments, the Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) system and reclamation plans for areas around the city, the Governor said.
"Our target is to get their interest in our projects for financing— they can create a joint venture with the Jakpro or Bank DKI — and then also the construction," Basuki said.
The Governor believes other countries will follow Singapore's lead in showing investment interest in Jakarta's projects once his administration secured deals with Singaporean business, he said.
The trip follows Basuki's visit to Rotterdam in September where he met with Dutch officials and businessmen discussing flood management in Jakarta.
