Jakarta. Indonesia's election watchdog has rejected for lack of evidence, two official complaints of electoral fraud against presidential candidate Joko "Jokowi" Widodo by rival Prabowo Subianto.

Abhan, the head of the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), announced the decision on Monday, saying there was not enough evidence to substantiate claims of "structured, systematic and massive" fraud by the Jokowi camp in the April 17 presidential and legislative elections. 

Ratna Dewi Pettalolo, a Bawaslu official, added seperately that one of the reasons the report had been rejected was the Prabowo campaign team's inability to provide convincing evidence of the alleged violations.

"The report that was submitted by the claimant to show structured and massive fraud by the accused contained only printouts of online news articles, which wasn't supported by other evidence, be it documents, letters or videos, which indicate any actions by the accused that was structured and systematic," Ratna said.

She added that the material submitted by the Prabowo camp did not fulfill evidential criteria, as required by Bawaslu regulations.

The Prabowo camp filed five reports on May 10 of alleged election misconduct by the Jokowi camp.

Dian Fatwa, an information technology volunteer at the Prabowo campaign team, expressed her dissatisfaction with Bawaslu's decision.

She said the decision "was not fair" because the witnesses presented were not given the opportunity to prove the violations.

"This is a strange decision. The proof we provided was government regulation No. 15 of 2019 on a salary increase for public servants. The news links [we submitted] were only to support [our claim] that the government had actually given all public servants a pay rise," Dian said on Monday.

She compared the salary increase to money politics, saying it favored the incumbent.

"This is the same as money politics. How does it differ from legislative candidates who hand out cash, staple foods or umrah promises?" she said. 

Dian said one legislative candidate was jailed for handing out tickets for an umrah lottery.
