BREAKING: Judges Reject Ahok's Exception, the Trial Continues

Jakarta. During the third session of a blasphemy trial against Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama on Tuesday (27/12), a panel of judges rejected a call by lawyers defending the governor to strike down the case, which they claim had breached procedures.
Judge Dwiarso Budi Santiarso, who leads the panel, said the trial will continue and the court will summon witnesses.
"The judges consider the dossiers submitted by prosecutors as complete," he said, adding that Ahok and his legal advisers can appeal to a higher court should they disagree.
Prosecutor Ali Mukartono said he appreciated the court's decision.
The next session of the trial is scheduled for Jan. 3, at the Ministry of Agriculture building in Ragunan, South Jakarta..
