BREAKING: Search for Missing Cessna Aircraft in Papua

Jakarta. A Cessna C208 Caravan aircraft of Spirit Avia Sentosa airlines, known as Flying SAS, disappeared from radar screens in Papua on Wednesday (12/04).

The aircraft departed from Tanah Merah Airport in Boven Digoel at 11.44 a.m. local time and was expected to land at Oksibil Airport in Bintang Mountains at 12.14 p.m.

At around 12.40 p.m., air traffic controllers of Oksibil Airport received an emergency signal from the pilot, Rio Pasaribu, around 5.8 nautical miles north of Oksibil, said Spirit Avia Sentosa safety manager Soeparman, as quoted by Kompas.com.

A DHC-06 Twin Otter rescue plane was dispatched from Okisbil in search for the missing Cessna.

It remains unclear how many people were on board.
