Child Protection Commission to Help Machete Wielding Student
Tangerang, Banten. Indonesia's Child Protection Commission, or KPAI, on Thursday said it will provide psychological assistance to the vocational student in Tangerang who attacked his teacher with a machete in her home earlier this week.
“The student is indeed guilty but we still have to help him because we have to find the root of the problem,” chairman of KPAI, Seto Mulyadi, said on Thursday.
Seto said there are many factors that can contribute to children behaving aggressively.
The student, a 15-year-old identified as AF, assaulted his teacher, Muryanah, 23, at her house Wednesday night after he became enraged for being scolded for tardiness and being inattentive at school
“The perpetrator carried out the assault because of a grudge against the victim. However, his mother turned him in [on Wednesday morning] after learning about what he did,” Adj. Comr. Kosasih, chief of a local subdistrict police station, said on Wednesday.
Muryanah's mother, Tri Hartati, 45, was also injured in the attack while trying to protect her daughter.
Muryanah was slashed in the head twice and is being treated at the Ciputra Hospital in Tangerang.
