Jakarta. Said Abdullah, a senior official to the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), said Tuesday that the public should not be too quick to judge President Prabowo Subianto’s giant cabinet.

Prabowo has inaugurated the Red and White Cabinet which comprises over 100 people, sparking reactions because of its size. However, according to Said, people should give the cabinet more time to do their job before they comment.

“If we already judge that the president’s cabinet is too big before they work, it will only create bias. … So it is best to give them time and see how they work. I’m sure President [Prabowo] will evaluate,” Said told reporters in Jakarta on Tuesday.

According to Said, Prabowo already made the necessary calculations before he decided to expand the cabinet. He added: “What’s most important is that there are clear regulations on the tasks of each ministries, government bodies, special staff, envoys, as well as the advisors. … The president is committed to get to work as soon as possible.”

As a PDI-P lawmaker, Said said that the House of Representatives would support the government from a budget standpoint. There are also reserved funds within the state budget that the new ministries could use.

"We have prepared the budget in the reserve fund permitted by the State Budget Law. We are confident that if this goes well, we should be able to achieve the programs as intended by the president,” Said stated.
