Gresik, East Java. Police in East Java are investigating an online prostitution ring reportedly involving high school and university students in Gresik after arresting a woman believed to the pimp.

Wahyu Putri Sukni, 20, a university student and beauty salon worker in Gresik, was apprehended by police for operating the prostitution business from a cafe in Surabaya.

Interested customers would contact Wahyu using BlackBerry Messenger before meeting her at a cafe to select girls.

Wahyu “is sort of the pimp [in the business]. We are still investigating the case to protect the girls [of Gresik] from prostitution,” Gresik Police chief of criminal investigation, Adj. Comr. Iwan Hari Poerwanto, said on Tuesday night.
