Jakarta. As collective leave for Eid al-Fitr 2024 ends on Monday, toll gates, airports, and sea ports witness an increased return flow of people preparing to resume work on Tuesday.

State-owned toll road operator Jasa Marga observes heightened traffic from the Kalikangkung Toll Gate in Central Java to the Main Cikampek Toll (Cikatama) in West Java, which connects the Trans Java toll road and Jakarta.

Faiza Riani, Marketing and Communication Department Head at Jasa Marga reports a traffic volume of 102,000 vehicles per hour at the Main Cikampek Toll Gate and Main Kalihurip Toll Gate in West Java, a 168 percent increase from normal.

"Currently, there is an increase in the number of vehicles from Trans Java toll road heading towards Jakarta, but it will significantly be higher on Monday," said Faiza on Sunday.

She urged people with flexible schedules to postpone their return to Jakarta to avoid congestion. Jasa Marga offers a 20 percent toll fee discount for return trips to Jabodetabek on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Lampung Police assures control over the homecoming and return flow at Bakauheni Port in Sumatra, despite increased vehicle volumes. Chief Police Helmy Santika notes smooth traffic despite congestion, with strategies in place to utilize parking pockets.

The Bakauheni Port's status remains normal, with no delaying system implemented yet. Lampung Toll Road witnesses increased traffic, with strategies in place to prevent rest area overcrowding.

Between April 11 and 13, ASDP Indonesia Ferry recorded 226,169 individuals traversing from Bakauheni Port in Lampung to Merak Port in Banten. These ports serve as vital links between Java and Sumatra islands.

Meanwhile, 18,000 passengers arrived at Pasar Senen Train Station in Jakarta on Monday morning.

Train return flow to Jakarta operates from April 13-17, expecting 40,000-47,000 passengers daily, with 392,740 travelers using trains from March 31 to April 14. Since March 31, 2024, long-distance train passengers reach 684,033 people.

On Sunday, hundreds of thousands of passengers arrived at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang, where smooth operations were reported.

Agus Haryadi, Director of Operations at the airport operator Angkasa Pura II, anticipates a peak return flow on April 15, with passenger numbers expected to surpass previous records. Flight data for April 14 records 173,846 passenger movements, with 92,636 arrivals and 81,210 departures.

"In general, it can be said to be smooth, and today we have started to enter the return flow period, so the passenger trend has started to increase for passengers coming to Soekarno-Hatta Airport," said Agus, on Sunday.

As the final day of the Eid collective leave approaches on Monday, traffic in Jakarta remains relatively light. Civil servants, after the collective leave, are still permitted to work from home (WFH) for two days. Meanwhile, school students in Jakarta are still on holiday.

Most of the population is returning from their hometowns to Jakarta.

According to observations by Beritasatu.com on Monday morning, the Sudirman area in Central Jakarta to Blok M in South Jakarta is observed to have light traffic. Although some private sector employees have begun returning to the office, traffic conditions are still not as dense as on regular workdays.
