Founder’s Fun Run for Charity at UPH University

AUGUST 20, 2016

Tangerang. Pelita Harapan University, known as UPH, will host a Founder's Fun Run for Charity at the university's Lippo Village, Tangerang, campus to raise funds for an education foundation based in Papua.

The event is in support of the Yaysan Pendidikan Harapan Papua, or the New Hope for Papua Education Foundation, supporting children in the country's easternmost region.

Participants were encouraged to invite their friends and families to donate online.

Fundraising began in early-August and will officially end during the closing ceremony of the UPH 23 Festival, a series of events from Aug. 18 to 20 hosted by the university to welcome new students.

UPH's festival this year carries the theme "Reach Further," motivating new students to work hard and develop their potential while studying on-campus.

According to a press release issued by the university, the Founder's Fun Run was established directly by  UPH founder James Riady, alongside university rector Jonathan L. Parapak and deputy rectors and deans from each faculty.

Around 4,000 students, lecturers and other UPH staff participated in the event.

Programs including student assessment to establish competency levels, the introduction of UPH vision and missions, sessions led by mentors featuring tips on adjusting to campus life and seminars hosted by prominent guest speakers were all featured during the festival.

High school students and teachers were also invited to an open day event to get to know the campus, find information on scholarships and seminars.

Visitors can also enjoy music performance, bazaar and fireworks at 07.00 p.m. to mark the closing ceremony.

The Jakarta Globe is affiliated with UPH through the Lippo Group.
