Jakarta. Ahmad Muzani, Secretary-General of the Gerindra Party, said that the National Democratic Party (Nasdem) is prepared to support President-elect Prabowo Subianto's administration, even though it will not be nominating any ministerial candidates. He emphasized that Nasdem remains a part of the government coalition.

"Nasdem has not submitted a list for cabinet positions, but they have expressed their commitment to the coalition. They are ready to support Prabowo's administration," Muzani said during a press conference at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Monday.

Muzani reiterated that Nasdem's absence from the cabinet does not mean the party is not part of the government. "Not being included in the cabinet does not imply that they are not part of the government. Just because they do not take part in the cabinet formation does not mean they are not part of the government," he asserted.

The Nasdem Party, which previously supported Anies Baswedan against Prabowo in the 2024 presidential election, has decided not to propose its members as ministers in the upcoming cabinet. However, the party has pledged full support for the upcoming government.

Nasdem's Secretary-General, Hermawi Taslim, revealed that Prabowo had requested the party to nominate potential ministerial candidates. Nonetheless, Nasdem Chairman Surya Paloh opted not to participate in Prabowo’s cabinet.

“Mr. Prabowo once asked why Nasdem hasn't proposed any candidates. We decided to make a more meaningful contribution beyond having someone from our party in the cabinet,” Hermawi said in Jakarta over the weekend.

“We believe our thoughts and contributions will be more impactful if accepted and implemented rather than merely having a presence in the cabinet. But we will remain integral to this incoming government,” he concluded.
