Gibran Puts Faith in One Map Policy to Combat Land Mafias

Jakarta. Vice presidential candidate Gibran Rakabuming Raka is banking on the land digitalization program, known as the One Map Policy, to address issues related to land mafias. Gibran, who is Prabowo Subianto's running mate, also affirmed his commitment to continue and enhance agrarian reform.
"In enhancing agrarian reform, we are committed to strengthening and refining it. The current implementation includes the PTSL program," he said at the fourth presidential debate at the Jakarta Convention Centre on Sunday.
The debate also brought together vice presidential candidates Muhaimin Iskandar and Mohammad Mahfud MD for discussions on environmental issues, agriculture, energy, and food security.
The PTSL (Land Certification and Registration) program is a government initiative that provides legal certainty and land rights for free to the public. This free certification program has been in place since 2018 and is slated to continue until 2025.
"The government has successfully issued 110 million certificates so far. Initially, the program issued 500,000 certificates," Gibran, who is the son of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, said.
He said that the redistribution of land is already underway, citing an example of community-owned land being stored in a land bank and then redistributed to local entrepreneurs and farmers.
Gibran underscored the importance of the "One Map Policy" by digitalizing land records in resolving land conflicts and combating land mafias.
He cited Solo City, which has been recognized as a "complete city" by the National Land Agency (BPN), as an example of a successful digitalization. This recognition stems from the clear demarcation of Solo City's boundaries and landlines, with ownership details thoroughly documented in the BPN.
"Everything has been digitally captured in the BPN database, reducing land conflicts and the influence of land mafias. The key here is digitalization. The 'one map policy' is crucial in resolving agrarian conflicts in the future," Gibran, who is the Mayor of Solo, said.
