Jakarta. Airlangga Hartarto, the Chairman of the Golkar Party, is advocating for a minimum of five ministerial positions in the upcoming cabinet led by Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, as the pair are likely to emerge victorious in the 2024 Presidential Election.

Citing internal party data, Airlangga reveals that approximately 75-80 percent of Golkar's cadres and supporters voted for Prabowo, who chairs the Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party.

"These statistics mark the highest level of support in our history. Previously, Golkar-backed presidents secured around 53 percent backing. However, this time, it has surged to 75-80 percent. It underscores Golkar's pivotal role in clinching victory for Mr. Prabowo and Mr. Gibran," stated Airlangga during a celebratory event commemorating Golkar's success in the 2024 Elections held in Badung Regency, Bali, on Friday.

Airlangga also contends that under Prabowo's leadership, Golkar deserves a more substantial allocation in the cabinet formation.

"I have communicated to Mr. Prabowo regarding Golkar's contributions, particularly our triumph in 15 provinces. This signifies a 25 percent contribution to the overall victory across 58% of the regions," he elaborated.

"Considering this proportion, Golkar should be awarded a minimum of five ministerial positions. However, given the 25 percent share, there is potential for even greater representation," he added.

The celebratory gathering, attended by senior Golkar Party officials, aimed to honor the success of securing victory in 15 out of 38 provinces during the 2024 Elections.

Based on initial data, the Golkar Party succeeded in securing 102 seats in the House of Representatives for their cadre. Airlangga Hartarto, who concurrently serves as the Chief Economic Minister in President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's cabinet, emphasized the importance of continued support from all party members for the remainder of Jokowi's term, Gibran's father.

"We must ensure the ongoing success of the current administration, and we anticipate that in 2025, with the start of the new fiscal year, the newly elected government will continue its achievements," he concluded.
