Jakarta. Governor Anies Baswedan conveyed Christmas greetings during a visit to the Santo Antonius Padua Catholic Church in East Jakarta on Sunday (24/12).
Anies, accompanied by East Jakarta Mayor Bambang Musyawardana and several city officials, was welcomed by pastors Blasius Sumaryo and Alfonsus Zeam Rudi.
Members of the Interreligious Harmony Forum also accompanied Anies, whose arrival at the Catholic church drew applause from congregation members.
"May peace, happiness and calmness be with us all," the governor said from the pulpit.
Anies expressed hope that this year's Christmas celebrations would make Christians more "advanced" as citizens of Jakarta and of Indonesia.
He was scheduled to visit several other churches in the capital on Christmas Eve.
