Hanura to Reform Structure After Chairman Wiranto Sworn-in as Minister

JULY 27, 2016

Jakarta. fThe People's Conscience Party, or Hanura, will reform the party structure following the addition of chairman Wiranto as Chief Security Minister on Wednesday (27/07).

During his 2014 presidential campaign, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said no cabinet member would be allowed to hold a strategic position within a political party, including as chairperson.

Wiranto, currently chairman of Hanura, said he was ready to serve Jokowi and had prepared a new structure for the party ahead of taking up his new role.

"I will continue to fight alongside each of you in the party's new format," he said in a text message sent to Hanura Party members on Wednesday.

A leadership board meeting will be staged in the near future.

Hanura had two members in Jokowi's previous cabinet — administrative and bureaucratic reform minister Yuddy Chrisnandi and industry minister Saleh Husin. Both were dropped in the second cabinet reshuffle.

Jokowi introduced eight other new ministers, with four swapping positions.
