Hilton Hotel Serves Appreciation Dinner to Jakarta's 'Rainbow Troops'
Jakarta. The local branch of global hospitality company Hilton treated staff of Jakarta's Public Facility Maintenance Agency, popularly known as "Rainbow Troops," to dinner on Wednesday as a token of appreciation for their efforts to keep the city clean and hospitable.
The agency's various units were represented at the event, including the so-called "Orange Troops," who are responsible for infrastructure and public facilities, "Yellow Troops" (general maintenance), "Blue Troops" (water resources) and "Green Troops" (forestry). Gamal Sinurat, assistant governor for population and settlement control, and Central Jakarta Deputy Mayor Irwandi were also present.
The team enjoyed a specially curated and locally inspired dinner at the hotel prepared by the team at DoubleTree by Hilton Jakarta-Diponegoro.
Nils-Arne Schroeder, DoubleTree by Hilton regional general manager for Indonesia and Timor Leste, expressed the company's appreciation to the agency for ensuring that the area around the hotel is clean.
"We look forward to continue working with them as partners on our journey to positively impact the community we operate in and deliver exceptional experiences to all guests who walk through our doors," Schroeder said in a statement on Wednesday.
Central Jakarta Mayor Bayu Meghantara thanked Hilton and DoubleTree for their recognition of the Rainbow Troops' work.
"We would like to express our gratitude to Hilton and DoubleTree by Hilton Jakarta-Diponegoro for recognizing the efforts of the Rainbow Troops. We are thrilled to be a part of their milestone celebration, and are hugely appreciative of their corporate commitment to giving back to the community," Bayu said.
The dinner was part of a series of activities organized in the region to commemorate Hilton's 100th anniversary. Hilton Da Nang in Vietnam pledged to plant 100 trees and DoubleTree by Hilton Penang in Malaysia hosted iftar, or fast-breaking dinner, for underprivileged children during Ramadan.
Community celebrations and engagements are set to continue across Southeast Asia for the rest of Hilton's centenary celebrations.
Expansion
Hilton also announced plans to expand its business in Southeast Asia with the opening if a new hotel in Malaysia next year.
The 291-room facility will involve the conversion of the existing Swiss-Garden Beach Resort Damai Laut in Perak.
"Damai Laut is one of the key gateways to the beautiful surrounding islands, including Pangkor Island and Marina Island. As a coastal town with a rich historical heritage, Damai Laut has huge potential to be the next resort destination of choice for domestic travelers," Shawn McAteer, senior vice president and global head of DoubleTree by Hilton, said in a statement.
"We are confident that the entry of the DoubleTree by Hilton brand to the location will help propel demand, as we deliver our iconic hospitality to guests in this region," he added.
