IdeaFest 2019: Local and Proud

OCTOBER 03, 2019

Jakarta. Indonesia's biggest annual creative festival IdeaFest will be held again at the Jakarta Convention Center on Oct. 3-6, featuring over 360 speakers.

"This is the first time we've extended the festival to four days," co-chairman of IdeaFest Ben Soebiakto said on Thursday.

The 2019 IdeaFest's official theme is "Age of Pride." It features two new programs, IdeaFest Comedy – with special attractions popular comic Coki Pardede and legendary comedy troupe Srimulat – and IdeaFest Food X.

"We hope this festival will help empower local creative industry," the other co-chairman of IdeaFest, Andi Sadha, said.

"Ideafest is a collective event for anyone who wants to get inspired," Andi said.

The event will offer classes and workshops on comedy, fintech, film, travel, fashion, content-making, e-sports and gaming, relationship, leadership, politics and democracy, lifestyle, journalism, podcasting, investment, trading and tons more.

The organizers expect 5,000 visitors per day and 4,000 tickets have been sold so far.

Some of the big names to appear in this year's festival include "Satan's Slave" and "Gundala" director Joko Anwar, Indonesia-born Disney animator Griselda Sastrawinata, actor Joe Taslim and digital artist Zach King.

The free-entry IdeaXperience will show art installations and live performances by local bands Maliq & D'Essentials, RAN, Kallula and Sunset People Project.
