Jakarta. The Indonesia Stock Exchange will halt trading for three days in a row next week to commemorate the Eid Al-Adha, when Muslims slaughter livestock as an offering to God and to give back to the poor.

The trading holidays will fall on June 28-30 in line with the government directive, the IDX announced on Wednesday.

“The holiday dates may be subject to changes depending on any revisions to the Bank Indonesia’s operational calendar and clearing schedule, as well as any further announcements regarding modifications to national holidays and collective leave dates in 2023,” the IDX said on its website.

Eid al-Adha, the second biggest holiday for Indonesian Muslims after Eid al-Fitr, falls on June 29 this year but the central government has added one day before and after as collective leaves.

The extended holidays which will provide a very long weekend were agreed in a joint decision signed by the religious affairs minister, the manpower minister, and the state administrative reform minister.
