Jakarta. Indonesian Justice and Human Rights Minister Yasonna Laoly met with parliament members on Tuesday (10/10) to discuss the expansion of an existing extradition treaty with China, aiming to introduce tougher clauses that will help combat transnational crimes, the minister said.

"We will discuss the extradition treaty with China," Yasonna said before meeting with members of the House of Representatives Commission I, which oversees defense, communication and information, foreign affairs and intelligence issues.

The minister explained that all aspects related to extradition will be discussed, especially efforts to combat transnational crimes, including cyber-crime, the narcotics trade, international terrorism and corruption.

Indonesia and China signed the existing extradition treaty in July 2009.

Indonesia expects to bring home several corruption fugitives who have been hiding in China, Yasonna said.
