Jakarta. Indonesia's under-22 national football team made a comeback 3-1 win over Myanmar in their Southeast Asian Games bronze-medal match at Selayang Stadium in Selangor, Malaysia, on Tuesday (29/08).
Myanmar's first two real chances by Aung Thu and Hlaing Bo Bo both hit the post in the 15th and 18th minute, respectively, before striker Than Paing finally scored in the 22nd minute.
In a thrilling counterattack during first-half injury time, Bo Bo once again had an effort blocked by the woodwork.
Indonesian goalie Satria Tama prevented Myanmar from doubling its lead in the 53rd minute when he quickly closed the gap to Thu in a one-on-one situation after a delicious pass from Paing.
In the 56th minute, Indonesia equalized through playmaker Evan Dimas, who released a strike from outside the box, which was deflected, giving Myanmar goalie Sann Satt Naing no time to anticipate.
Only three minutes after the equalizer, incisive midfielder Septian David Maulana put Indonesia in the lead with a curved shot from outside the box, thanks to winger Osvaldo Haay, who made the assist.
In the 68th minute, an impressive Satria saved another clear chance from Myanmar's Paing at the first time and Aung Mann in the rebound.
Indonesia killed the game with a third goal in the 76th minute when left-back Rezaldi Hehanussa made a curved strike, also from outside the box, to beat Naing.
Satria made another crucial save in injury time to prevent Paing from scoring before Myanmar was reduced to 10 men after right-back Nan Wai Min received a second yellow card for tripping Indonesian striker Ezra Walian.
Thailand meanwhile beat host Malaysia 1-0 in the final, also on Tuesday.
