Chengdu, China. The Indonesian men’s badminton team will face South Korea in the quarterfinals of the Thomas Cup after a decisive 4-1 victory over India in the last group stage matches on Wednesday evening.

Indonesia emerged as the leader of Group C following the victory over a team that had previously dashed its hopes for back-to-back Thomas Cup trophies in the tournament's previous final.

Anthony Sinisuka Ginting suffered the sole defeat for the Indonesian team as India’s top men’s singles player, HS Prannoy, made a comeback after losing the first game, ultimately winning the match with scores of 21-13, 12-21, and 12-21 at the Hi-Tech Zone Sports Center Gymnasium in Chengdu, China.

The duo of Bagas Maulana and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri engaged in a hard-fought battle to overcome India’s Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Chandrashekhar Shetty in three games, securing victory with scores of 24-22, 22-24, and 21-19, thereby leveling the score.

Indonesia regained the lead as Jonatan Christie defeated Lakshya Sen in the second men’s singles match with scores of 21-18, 16-21, and 21-17.

Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin sealed Indonesia’s victory by dominating Dhruv Kapila and Sai Pratheek 22-20 and 21-11.

Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo narrowly avoided defeat in his first-ever match against India’s third men’s singles player, Srikanth Kidambi, forcing a rubber game to win with scores of 19-21, 24-22, and 21-14 in 71 minutes.

In the Uber Cup, Indonesian women's shuttlers also advanced to the quarterfinals and will face Thailand.

Indonesia holds the record as the most successful team in the Thomas Cup with 14 trophies, followed by China with 10.
