Indonesian Election Survey: Majority Satisfied, Disagree with Disqualification Demands

Jakarta. A recent survey conducted by Indikator Politik Indonesia revealed that 75.7 percent of respondents expressed satisfaction with the administration of the 2024 Presidential Election. Moreover, more than 60 percent of respondents disagreed with demands to disqualify President-elect Prabowo Subianto.
Burhanuddin Muhtadi, the chief researcher at the pollster, said on Sunday that only 18.2 percent of respondents expressed dissatisfaction, with 5.5 percent stating they were "very dissatisfied."
The survey also analyzed satisfaction levels based on the voter bases of presidential-vice presidential candidates. The voter base of Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka showed the highest level of satisfaction, with 89.8 percent of respondents expressing satisfaction with the election administration.
Meanwhile, the voter base of Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar showed a satisfaction rate of 39.8 percent, and the voters of Ganjar Pranowo-Mohammad Mahfud MD showed a satisfaction rate of 51.3 percent.
However, the voter base of Anies-Muhaimin had the highest level of dissatisfaction at 60.2 percent, followed by Ganjar-Mahfud voters at 48.7 percent. Only 9.9 percent of Prabowo-Gibran voters expressed dissatisfaction with the election administration.
The Constitutional Court is scheduled to announce the verdict regarding the ongoing presidential election dispute on Monday.
President-elect Prabowo Subianto is currently facing challenges from defeated candidates Anies Baswedan and Ganjar Pranowo, who have petitioned the court to annul the election result and order a revote.
The plaintiffs have alleged widespread election fraud and raised questions about the legality of Gibran Rakabuming Raka's candidacy as Prabowo's running mate. Both Anies and Ganjar have demanded the disqualification of Prabowo and Gibran in the event of a redo election.
Indikator's survey shows that 63.4 percent of respondents disagreed with the demands to disqualify Prabowo and Gibran.
Burhanuddin stated that this percentage was still higher than the votes received by Prabowo-Gibran based on the national level vote count, which was 96,216,691 votes, or 58.6 percent of the votes.
"It turns out the majority disagree, which is 63.4 percent. If we use a simple explanation, Prabowo's supporters are 58 percent, so there are also supporters other than them who disagree with the cancellation of Prabowo-Gibran's designation," said Burhanuddin in a virtual press conference on Sunday.
Conversely, 27 percent of respondents agreed with the petitum requesting the cancellation of Prabowo-Gibran's participation.
The survey was conducted with 1,201 respondents through random digit dialing from April 4-5, 2024.
