Investor Daily Roundtable Zeroes In on Indonesia’s Healthcare Industry

Jakarta. B-Universe Media Holdings is hosting another episode of its flagship economic forum Investor Daily Roundtable, with the discussion now focusing on what the government planned on doing to boost the domestic healthcare industry.
The ongoing conference has Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin and B-Universe’s Executive Chairman Enggartiasto Lukita on stage.
As a start, the discussion raised a number of issues. Prices of medicines and medical equipment are almost five times more expensive than those sold in other Southeast Asian countries. The inefficient supply chain and the poor management of the pharmaceutical industry were claimed to be the culprits behind the high drug prices.
Indonesia is mainly importing its pharmaceutical materials. Many Indonesians also prefer getting their medical treatment abroad, thus causing the country to lose a lot of money. Health Minister Budi is expected to reveal his ministry’s strategies to address these challenges at the Investor Daily Roundtable.
This discussion is a curtain-raiser to the larger conference Investor Daily Summit that is set to take place this October.
