Jakarta Administration to Cover Medical Expenses for Suicide Bombing Victims

Jakarta. The Jakarta administration will cover medical expenses for the victims of Wednesday's suicide bombing at the Kampung Melayu bus station in East Jakarta, Acting Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat said at the state-run Budhi Asih Hospital.

"The wounded victims have been taken care of properly, [some] even underwent surgeries [...] Overall, they are doing great," Djarot said.

The acting governor also conveyed his condolences to the three policemen killed in the incident.

Meanwhile, deputy chairman of the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) Hadi Atmojo said his bureau will help rehabilitate the victims.

"We are here as the country’s representatives, and LPSK will assist the victims in their recoveries [...] We will focus our efforts in assisting the civilian victims," Hadi said on his visit to the hospital.

Two blasts between 9.00 p.m. and 9.05 p.m. killed the suicide bombers and three police officers who were on duty to secure an approaching night parade organized to welcome the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
