Jakarta. Jakarta governor hopeful Pramono Anung is planning to meet Megawati Soekarnoputri, the chairwoman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P).

Pramono and his running mate Rano Karno is PDI-P’s nominee for the Jakarta gubernatorial election.

However, Pramono did not say when he would be meeting the PDI-P matriarch.

“[I will be meeting Megawati] when the time comes,” Pramono told reporters at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Pramono not long ago had met with Former Vice President Jusuf Kalla, popularly known as JK.  Pramono, who currently serves as the cabinet secretary, claimed that JK had gone well, and that the ex-veep supported his Jakarta governor bid. Aside from Megawati, Pramono also has plans to meet with Former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

Pramono has submitted his resignation letter declaring that he would step down as the cabinet secretary. He would officially resign on Sep. 22, the same day as the official announcement for the election candidates. Pramono claimed that he still had some work to do, hence deciding to quit the cabinet secretary job later this month.

Former Social Affairs Minister and fellow PDI-P politician  Tri Rismaharini has also resigned from her ministerial post to focus on the East Java governor election.

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has just picked Saifullah Yusuf --the secretary-general of the executive board at the Islamic group organization Nahdlatul Ulama-- as the new social affairs minister. The appointment of Saifullah, also known as Gus Ipul, means fewer PDI-P ministers in the cabinet. Gus Ipul is a member of the National Awakening Party (PKB).

This only leaves Bureaucratic Reforms Minister Azwar Anas, Public Works Minister Basuki HadImuldjono, Women and Children’s Protection Minister I Gusti Ayu Bintang Puspayoga, as well as Small and Medium Enterprise Minister Teten Masduki as the remaining PDI-P ministers. Fellow PDI-P cadre John Wempi Wetipo is also the home affairs deputy minister.

Pramono also commented on Gus Ipul’s appointment as the new social affairs minister.

“It is the president’s prerogative [to pick his ministers], and there is only a month left [before his term ends],” Pramono said.

Prabowo Subianto is set to succeed Jokowi as Indonesia’s president on Oct. 20.
