Jakarta. The Jakarta Police have arrested a resident of Kendal in Central Java, identified by the initials MAFA, 20, who was the administrator of a child pornography group on Telegram.
Jakarta Police's Director of Special Criminal Investigations, Ade Safri Simanjuntak, said that the case began when the police conducted a cyber patrol and discovered a Telegram group named Deflamingo Collection. Upon investigation, the group was found to contain child pornography content.
"The suspect advertised pornographic content, including child pornography, through the social media platform X with the username @DeflamingoOfc," said Ade Safri on Tuesday.
Ade Safri said that MAFA offered membership packages to those interested in joining the group. The monthly package was priced at Rp 165,000 (around $10), while individual videos were sold for Rp 15,000 each.
"When a buyer wanted to subscribe, they would contact the admin via WhatsApp or Telegram," he said.
Ade Safri revealed that MAFA had been operating for seven months, from August 2023 to July 2024, with a monthly turnover of Rp 5,000,000 to Rp 7,000,000.
"The group had 107 subscribed users, while the Telegram channel owned by the suspect had 25,000 followers," he disclosed.
