Jakarta Spends Only 87 Percent of Its 2016 Budget
Jakarta. Acting Jakarta Governor Sumarsono has claimed that the capital spent only 87 percent of its regional budget last year.
Sumarsono said the Jakarta administration spent most of its money on education, which took up 27 percent of its 2016 budget, followed by the health sector, which took up 10 percent.
"The other major sectors were public works and transportation," Sumarsono said at City Hall on Tuesday (03/01).
Jakarta was given a budget of Rp 62.8 trillion ($4.7 billion) last year. Several canceled projects – including a postponed flat development and a canceled deal to purchase the British Embassy’s property — had meant the administration had more money left in the bank than was initially estimated last year.
In the beginning of 2016, the Jakarta administration had announced it expected to spend over 90 percent of its 2016 budget.
