JG Exclusive: Absentee Accusers: What Motivated the Mothers to Lay These False Allegations?

exclusive interview hereTracy: There’s a lot of speculations in there, I mean, they’re not here. How could they be involved? They left the country. So, I think that says a lot.
You won a defamation ruling against one of them in Singapore.
Tracy: That came out in July and of course it had an impact to the ruling at the high court decision ‘cause that was final.
Neil: That was launched to stop the second mother from these baseless allegations that we know are not true. You can’t just say things that are untrue to the world and then just not expect to be held responsible for that. That’s all we’re saying.
Have they paid the damages ordered?
Tracy: No. I’m not sure, we have a lawyer to answer those questions. But all that we know is that it’s likely that we will never see that money because the lawsuit was in Singapore and she’s not in Singapore.
Neil: But it was never about that. It’s about stopping her from telling these lies about us. It was never about financial compensation, it was just about ensuring to stop the lies.
Tracy: Because the second mother was the one saying publicly that there were more kids abused, more perpetrators.
Why do you think they have since left the country?
Neil: You have to ask them.
Sisca: I’m also not sure. This is just my opinion and I’m only wondering why they seemed so scared. Do they lack trust in the Indonesian legal system? If the decision is that they’re not guilty, nothing will happen to them. We’re here. Tracy and Neil are here. We’re just trying to believe that justice will prevail.
You’ve filed a police report against the doctor whose claim that the alleged victims were sodomized was instrumental in the judgment against you, and the mothers as well. Do you feel they should be prosecuted?
Tracy: Well, there is a case now. Sisca has filed a police report.
Sisca: I filed in a report in April over perjury in the court hearings. A few months later the police summoned Ferdi for questioning as a witness. Last Monday, Neil was summoned for questioning. This is our effort to fight for the truth because there’s a lot of irregularities which proved to the court that these were all false accusations. And with Neil being summoned, it’s a strong sign that this is being processed. What we want is justice and for the truth to come out, because we’ve been badly impacted from something that never happened. I discussed it with my husband because I was also worried about my husband and children’s safety, but he said to not be worried because we were not wrong. And that time the public was a lot more neutral in seeing the case. I’m doing this for my children. One day when they’re all grown up, they will Google their father’s name and find stuff, and they will ask me questions about the truth. Right now, it’s already very hard for me to explain it to them. I’m concerned about how their social life will play out and if they’re going to be ashamed. So this is for my children’s future as well.
Neil: So, a police report for people to be held responsible for their actions and if that’s part of the process to ensure that truth is out there and there’s no questions as to the innocence of Ferdi and I, I think that’s a necessary step to take. Because you can’t go around saying things that are inaccurate and ruining people’s lives and being able to just walk away from that. I don’t think that that’s acceptable at all. I don’t think that anybody should accept that as far as a lot of people have been misled in this whole scenario, and especially when it’s based on child protection. I think that’s the most important thing. Because if the truth is still not out there and the kids don’t get the message that they were never abused, that’s not acceptable….
Tracy: … and they go on thinking their whole life that something happened to them and how does that affect their future family life, or their life in general.
Have they responded to the report? Have the police summoned them for questioning?
Neil: Not that we’re aware of.
What would you say to the mothers?
Neil: I think, I’m responsible for what I say and I do and I believe in karma. And in things that I do I try to put a positive karma into the universe. I think as a teacher that’s what you do as you try to develop integrity, responsibility, caring, compassion in the kids that we teach. And I feel good about what I do and I feel good about the person that I am and the work that I do and that’s all that I’m concerned about. They have made their own beds in which they need to lie. So whatever comes to them, comes to them. And I’m content and happy with the life that I’ve led and the person that I am and that’s the most important thing, especially since we’re a couple. So long as we continue to do good deeds and be contributing members to society. I’m not concerned about them. I’m more concerned about their kids and about what they’ve suffered and I think it’s important for that suffering to end for them. So that’s what the parents need to be concerned about, to let the kids heal.
Ferdi: I only hope that they would at least come over here to apologize directly to us and our families. What they’ve irresponsibly done, ruined my life that I’d maintained for so long. But that’s only if that could happen. Now I just pray that my family and I will be kept out of harm’s way. I just want to rearrange my life again with my loving family and friends. Let them leave so I can get on with my life.
Many people say that you should have just left the country and not filed any police reports. Would you say they’re wrong?
Tracy: I think it’s just basically about being held accountable for what you say or do. They have a high level of responsibility to make an accurate and professional report.
Neil: On that note, filing a police report is not about revenge or punishment. It’s about responsibility, it’s about the fact that if they committed perjury in court under oath that caused Ferdi and I to be convicted for 10 years – I mean, there’s a responsibility there. I think that the general population and society is owed the fact, that people in professional positions [who are] sworn not only to tell the truth in court but have professional responsibility as well [failed to] abide by the guidelines that they’d agreed to. And that’s a danger to the society. And as to why we don’t just go away and leave the country – because we’re not running away from the truth. We’re sitting here today to ensure that the truth is told in every facet. The fact is that we’re innocent and also the fact that those medical reports were completely inaccurate, if not completely falsified. So I think it’s important for that to be cleared up as well in order for there to be no doubt that we’re innocent. But people need to be held responsible for their actions, to ensure that this doesn’t happen again because if this case doesn’t come forward, and doctors continue to practice that way it is, it’s going to hurt somebody else in the future and that’s not good.
