Jakarta. President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) have announced their full support for President-elect Prabowo Subianto’s administration, following a private meeting at the Merdeka Palace.

Jokowi made this statement following an unannounced, private 30-minute meeting with the Democratic Party chairman at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Saturday morning.

"SBY and I have agreed to provide full support for the new government under Pak Prabowo Subianto's leadership," Jokowi emphasized during a joint appearance with SBY on the palace veranda.

SBY, dressed in a batik shirt, was welcomed by Jokowi, and the two leaders proceeded to the Jepara Room of Merdeka Palace, where they were seen sitting and conversing.

SBY explained that the meeting with Jokowi also involved discussions about his new role as a special advisor to the global alliance for eradicating malaria.

During the presidential election in February, SBY endorsed Prabowo and vice president-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Jokowi’s eldest son. SBY’s own son, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, was appointed by Jokowi as the Spatial Planning Minister on Feb. 21.

Prior to his meeting with Jokowi, SBY had received a visit from Jakarta governor candidate Pramono Anung and his running mate Rano Karno at his residence in Cikeas, Bogor, West Java.

Pramono had previously announced plans to meet with various national figures to foster relations and seek input for Jakarta’s development. He stated that he feels no pressure in meeting key leaders, having strong relationships with both Joko Widodo and  Prabowo Subianto.

Separately, Bane Raja Manalu, a member of the Pramono-Rano campaign team, said the meeting demonstrated that the duo aims to build a joyful and inclusive political atmosphere.

"This joyful spirit is reflected in their openness to engage with many individuals, including SBY, who shares the same vision for advancing Jakarta," Bane told reporters on Saturday.
