Jokowi Congratulates China’s Xi Jinping on Third Term

Jakarta. President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo on Saturday congratulated China's Xi Jinping after the latter recently sealed his third five-year term.
In a congratulatory message sent via his Twitter handle, Jokowi said he hoped the two countries could bolster ties.
"Congratulations President Xi Jinping for your re-election as President of the People's Republic of China," Jokowi said.
"As strategic partners, let us continue to further strengthen our cooperation for the prosperity of both countries, and continue our contribution to regional peace and stability," Jokowi added.
The government data showed Indonesia-China trade reached $133.65 billion in 2022, up from 2021 figures which amounted to $109.99 billion. Indonesia’s Chinese imports exceed what the country exports to Beijing, although the trade deficit has significantly dropped. Indonesia’s trade deficit with China went from $2.46 billion in 2021 to $1.8 billion last year.
China was the number two source of foreign direct investment for Indonesia. In 2022, China's investment in Indonesia reached $5.18 billion.
Xi Jinping officially becomes the longest-serving head of state of Communist China since its founding in 1949.
