Jakarta. A recent poll by Indikator Politik Indonesia reveals that 75 percent of respondents are satisfied with President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo’s performance as he nears the end of his second term.

The poll, released on Friday, comes just 16 days before Jokowi is set to hand over the presidency to Prabowo Subianto after a decade in office.

Of the 1,200 adult respondents surveyed across key provinces, 15.04 percent said they are “very satisfied” with Jokowi's leadership, while 59.92 percent described themselves as “moderately satisfied.” Meanwhile, 20.21 percent reported being “less satisfied,” and 4.23 percent said they are “dissatisfied” with his performance.

According to Indikator Politik Executive Director Burhanuddin Muhtadi, Jokowi's approval rating has dropped from 82 percent in July. However, his final rating remains significantly higher than the 64 percent approval he garnered in January 2015, early in his presidency.

Inflation has played a crucial role in shaping public opinion throughout Jokowi’s tenure. Unlike his predecessor, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who enjoyed an 80 percent approval rating during his first year in office, Jokowi’s honeymoon period in 2014 was short-lived.

"That’s because President Jokowi raised fuel prices soon after taking office, which triggered inflation and quickly ended the honeymoon phase," Burhanuddin explained.

The poll surveyed citizens from 11 of Indonesia’s most populous provinces, including North Sumatra, Riau, South Sumatra, Lampung, Banten, Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, West Sumatra, and South Sulawesi.

The survey has a margin of error of 2.3 percentage points.
