Jakarta. The recent national survey conducted by the Indonesian Circle Survey (LSI) towards the end of December 2023 and early January 2024 has revealed that 78 percent of respondents express satisfaction with the performance of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo. Notably, nearly half of those satisfied with Jokowi's performance are lending their support to presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who is Jokowi's eldest son.

Denny Januar Ali, the founder of LSI, emphasized that the 78 percent figure represents an exceptionally high approval rating for the president.

LSI conducted monthly national surveys from June to December 2023 and increased the frequency to bi-weekly starting in November. The approval rating of Jokowi's performance consistently ranged from 75 percent to 81 percent.

"The survey results create a highly favorable situation for presidential and vice-presidential candidates closely linked to Jokowi," Denny said on Thursday.

Each survey reflects the Indonesian public's opinions on five national dimensions: economic, legal, political, security, and socio-cultural. The majority of the public perceives stability in these dimensions.

"The unemployment issue is the only notable drawback in Jokowi's report. However, all other indicators fall into the good category," he added.

The distribution of satisfaction and dissatisfaction levels with Jokowi becomes a determining factor in the 2024 presidential election. Nearly half of those satisfied with Jokowi support the Prabowo and Gibran Rakabuming Raka pair, followed by Ganjar Pranowo and Mohammad Mahfud MD.

"The majority of support from those dissatisfied with Jokowi tends to go to the Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar pair. Although Anies and Muhaimin receive the largest support from this group, it is essential to note that the satisfied Jokowi voter base has a fourfold advantage over the dissatisfied group," he said.

Meanwhile. the latest survey conducted by the international research agency Ipsos Public Affairs indicates increasing electability for Prabowo, reaching 48.05 percent, suggesting a significant potential for a one-round victory in the 2024 Presidential Election.

The Ipsos Public Affairs survey was conducted from December 27, 2023, to January 5, 2024, involving 2,000 respondents across 34 provinces in Indonesia. Respondents were citizens aged 17 and above or already married, selected through multistage random sampling. Face-to-face interviews were conducted using the Ipsos Ifield Computer-Assisted Personal Interviews (CAPI) application. The survey has a margin of error of ±2.19 percent with a 95 percent confidence level.

"Compared to the survey data from the end of November, Prabowo-Gibran has experienced an increase from 42.66 percent to 48.05 percent, while Anies-Muhaimin tends to remain stagnant, moving from 22.13 percent to 21.80 percent, and Ganjar-Mahfud dropped from 22.95 percent to 18.35 percent. Those yet to decide slightly decreased from 12.26 percent to 11.80 percent," said senior researcher Arif Nurul Imam on Wednesday.

Arif mentioned that the influence of Jokowi is becoming more apparent, as evidenced by the increasing electability of the Prabowo-Gibran pair. In particular, he noted that an increasing number of Jokowi-Ma’ruf 2019 voters are now supporting the Prabowo-Gibran duo.
