KPK Names Musi Banyuasin Councilors in 2015 Budget Graft Case
Jakarta. The Corruption Eradication Commission has named four leaders of South Sumatra's Musi Banyuasin Legislative Council as suspects for allegedly accepting bribes when drafting the region's 2015 budget.
"Based on our joint exposure to witnesses and suspects, and also based sufficient evidence, our investigators concluded that they have been involved in corruption," the anti-graft agency's acting deputy chief Johan Budi told reporters at a press conference in their Jakarta headquarters on Friday.
The suspects have been identified as Musi Banyuasin Legislative Council speaker Raimon Iskandar, a politician from the National Mandate Party (PAN), and his deputy speakers, namely Aidil Fitri from the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra); Islan Hanura from the Golkar Party; and Darwin A.H. from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P).
They stand accused of accepting bribes from the district's head of revenue and asset management agency, Syamsudin Fei, and the head of development planning board, Faisyar.
Syamsudin and Faisyar were apprehended and immediately named suspects in June when investigators confiscated Rp 2.56 billion ($183,830) during the arrest.
The anti-graft watchdog has also named Musi Banyuasin district head Pahri Azhari and his wife Lucianty Pahri, also a member of the South Sumatra Legislative Council, as well as district councilors Bambang Karyanto, a politician from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P); and Adam Munandar, from the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra).
Pahri and Lucianty, both from PAN, were accused of transferring Rp 2.65 billion form their accounts to Syamsudin in February as an incentive for him pass the district's 2015 regional budget.
