KPK Sting Operation Nets 'Several' Involved in Graft at PAL Indonesia

MARCH 30, 2017

Jakarta. The national antigraft agency caught several people red-handed in raids in Jakarta and Surabaya, East Java, on Thursday (30/03) related to corruption at state-owned shipbuilder PAL Indonesia.

Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) spokesman Febri Diansyah told reporters on Thursday evening that those arrested in Jakarta have been detained and are currently undergoing intensive questioning.

"This is a new case. Tomorrow, we will provide a more detailed update," he said, adding that the case is related to gratification of a government official involving a project by PAL Indonesia.

Febri said the KPK would withhold the names of those arrested until the questioning is completed.

By law, the KPK needs two basic forms of evidence before it can name someone a suspect.
