Legal Rep Claims Lost Contact as Firli Bahuri Evades Questioning in Extortion Case
Jakarta. The former head of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Firli Bahuri, did not appear for police questioning related to the alleged extortion case involving a former minister.
His current whereabouts are unknown, and his legal representative, Fahri Bachmid, said he has lost contact with him.
"I've lost contact with Firli, so I don't know the latest developments," Fahri told Beritasatu.com, a sister publication of the Jakarta Globe, on Monday.
"Up until now there has been no information from him regarding the legal steps we will take, there is none until now," he added.
Firli is scheduled for interrogation of a corruption case involving ex-Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) at the National Police's Criminal Investigation Department on Monday.
The National Police accused Firli of extorting Syahrul, a suspect under KPK investigation.
Following an ethics breach connected to the criminal charges, the KPK's oversight body found Firli guilty, leading to his termination from the commission by President Joko Widodo.
