Jakarta. Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Bambang Soesatyo has emphasized that the inauguration of Prabowo Subianto and his running mate Gibran Rakabuming Raka as president and vice president-elect cannot be canceled.

Bambang highlighted that the regulations in the 1945 Constitution regarding the inauguration of the president and vice president are very clear.

According to him, decisions made by the people cannot be challenged by anyone, including decisions by the State's Administrative Court (PTUN).

"Therefore, there is no room to postpone or cancel the inauguration of Prabowo-Gibran because the election has ended, and the decisions of the Constitutional Court (MK) and the General Election Commission's (KPU) Decree on the Presidential Election results are clear," said Bambang Soesatyo in his statement on Friday.

Bambang's statement was in response to former supreme court judge, Gayus Lumbuun, who suggested that the State Administrative Court could force MPR not to inaugurate Prabowo-Gibran. Gayus is the head of the PDIP legal team, which filed a lawsuit against the KPU to the PTUN.

Prabowo-Gibran will be inaugurated on October 20, replacing the current president and vice president, Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and Ma'ruf Amin.

Prabowo will succeed President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo who has led the country for the past decade. The KPU has appointed Prabowo and Gibran as the election winners after the Constitutional Court rejected the petition submitted by the rival teams Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mohammad Mahfud MD.

Prabowo has secured approximately 96.2 million votes, about 58.59 percent of the total votes.

Bamsoet also added that the MPR needs to issue a decree regarding the confirmation of the elected presidential and vice-presidential candidates.

"The MPR's Decree regarding the appointment of the president and vice president is a conditio sine qua non (must be present) in the series of the inauguration of the president and vice president," he said.

"The elected president and vice president, chosen directly by the people based on the KPU's Decree, cannot be canceled by the MPR. The MPR only has the authority to strengthen it in the form of confirmation in the form of constitutional legal products," he added.
