Nusantara Capital City Opens to Public with Limited Visits Starting Monday: What You Need to Know

Penajam Paser Utara. Indonesia's future capital Nusantara (IKN) in East Kalimantan will open its doors to the public starting Monday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. The opening will allow visitors to explore Nusantara from Plaza Seremoni to Kusuma Bangsa Nusantara Park.

The Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) has announced that due to ongoing construction and to ensure safety and comfort, daily visitor numbers will be capped at 300 people. 

Visitors wishing to explore IKN must first register through the IKNOW app, which has been launched for this purpose. Additionally, visitors are advised to familiarize themselves with the visiting procedures to ensure a smooth experience.

  • Registration: Visitors must register on the IKNOW app prior to their visit.
  • Parking: Parking is available at the IKN rest area and Simpang Trunen (next to Hermina Hospital), which are also the starting points for tours of the Central Government Core Area (KIPP).
  • Proof of Registration: At the meeting point, visitors must show their IKNOW registration proof to officials.
  • Tour: Visitors will be accompanied by a liaison officer (LO) and travel by electric bus to Plaza Seremoni and Taman Kusuma Bangsa.
  • Plaza Seremoni and Kusuma Bangsa Park: Visitors can disembark at the Plaza Seremoni Barat stop to explore the eastern Plaza Seremoni and the western Taman Kusuma Bangsa. The Plaza Seremoni features amenities such as a mini amphitheater, forest trail, retail gallery, and visitor center, while Kusuma Bangsa Park offers views of key buildings including the office of the coordinating minister, Garuda Palace, State Palace, and Plaza Seremoni.
  • Return: Visitors can return to the rest area or Simpang Trunen using electric vehicles that stop at Plaza Seremoni Barat.
