‘ONE: Kings of Courage’ Ready to Rock Jakarta on Saturday
Jakarta. Asia’s largest sports media property, ONE Championship, is ready to kick off its inaugural global broadcast event for 2018, dubbed the "ONE: Kings of Courage," at the capital’s Jakarta Convention Center on Saturday (20/01).
In a press conference held two days prior to the event at the Fairmont Hotel, the organization presented the fighters that will compete in Saturday's bouts, including Singapore’s Tiffany "No Chill" Teo, who will battle "The Panda" Xiong Jing Nan of China in the inaugural ONE Women’s Strawweight World Championship.
The co-main event features Indonesia’s hometown hero Stefer Rahardian, who will battle Muhammad Imran of Pakistan. This will be a crucial bout for the two, as the winner will have the opportunity to compete for the ONE Flyweight World Champion belt.
The Indonesian top fighter said he has been training on a daily basis to improve his skills to become a better martial artist. "I am working very hard so that I can win this bout and continue to make my friends, my family and my country proud. This is an important contest for me, to prove that I am ready for the bigger bouts and that I am ready for the next level of competition," Stefer added.
"Stefer is such a remarkable human being. He is an inspiration for his country. If he wins this fight, he is going to get a title shot for the world title," said Chatri Sityodtong, ONE Championship's chief executive.
Chatri also announced a budding partnership between ONE Championship and Indonesian broadcaster SCTV, which was represented at the press conference by its deputy director of programming David Setiawan Suwarto.
SCTV will become ONE Championship’s official broadcast partner in Indonesia and will livestream ONE’s events on Liputan6.com and Vidio.com.
"Our collaboration with ONE Championship is an important milestone for us. We are very happy and excited to bring ONE Championship to our viewers and will work aggressively to grow martial arts values in Indonesia," David said.
Other Indonesian fighters slated to compete in Saturday's event include "The Terminator" Sunoto, who will be taking on Rin Saroth in the Bantamweight bout, and two all-Indonesian bouts featuring Victorio Senduk versus Yohan Mulia, and Riski Umar versus Arnol Batubara.
ONE Championship hosts the largest sports entertainment events across Asia, featuring some of the world's best martial artists and world champions—all signed to exclusive contracts—on the largest media broadcasting service in Asia.
In addition to its digital platforms, ONE Championship broadcasts to over 1.7-billion potential viewers across more than 128 countries around the world with some of the largest global broadcasters, including Fox Sports, ABS-CBN, Astro, Premier Sports, Skynet, Mediacorp and more.
