Jakarta. The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) has begun to discuss potential candidates for the Jakarta gubernatorial election on November 27. Secretary of the Jakarta PDIP Regional Leadership Council, Pantas Nainggolan, revealed that several names are being considered.

Among the names under consideration are Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini, State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform Minister Abdullah Azwar Anas, former Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama, former Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces General (Ret.) Andika Perkasa, Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, and Jakarta Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) Chairman Prasetyo Edi Marsudi.

"We are still in the candidate selection process. It could be Risma, or it could be Jakarta DPRD Chairman Prasetyo Edi Marsudi, or Azwar Anas," Pantas told reporters on Friday.

According to him, PDIP considers several factors in selecting the Jakarta gubernatorial candidate, including commitment to the Pancasila ideology, electability, and the ability to develop Jakarta in the future.

"Several underlying issues in Jakarta must be the concern of future leaders," emphasized Pantas.

Pantas revealed that PDIP is likely to announce the names of potential gubernatorial candidates in May 2024. He also stated that PDIP is nominating regional leaders as a form of appreciation for their work for the community.

"We will elevate the best cadres to positions that carry greater responsibilities," Pantas concluded.
