Persis Solo Reports Referee to PSSI for Poor Match Handling
Jakarta. Persis Solo, one of the clubs competing in Indonesia's second-tier Liga 2, has filed a complaint with the Indonesian Football Association, or PSSI, over match officials' handling of its match against Sragen United on Sunday (30/04).
Persis beat Sragen United by 1-0 at the Taruna Stadium in Sragen, Central Java, with Bayu Nugroho scoring the only goal in the 19th minute.
Although winning the match, Persis believes referee Bambang Sutiono made a poor decision when he and linesman Kelik Purwanto refused to penalize Sragen goalkeeper Andi Setiawan for allegedly intentionally kneeing Persis player Dedi Cahyono Putro against the head.
Bambang instead sent off Persis player Andiantono Ariza for protesting from the bench.
"The referee said it wasn't a foul. He then wrongly sent off Andiantoro, which I believe happened after a Sragen player whispered to him," Persis chief executive Michael Bimo Putranto said.
Dedi, who had been lying on the ground following the knock to the head, was immediately taken to hospital.
"It's fortunate the hospital was near, otherwise it could have been fatal," Michael said.
A Persis delegation visited the offices of the PSSI in Jakarta on Wednesday to file the report and submit video footage as evidence.
"We thank Persis for making this report as it has strengthened earlier evidence from Liga 2. The PSSI's disciplinary commission and referee's committee will process this [report] soon," acting PSSI secretary general Joko Driyono said.
He added that the PSSI's disciplinary commission will meet next week to resolve the issue.
