Jakarta. Police have arrested a married couple in South Jakarta for allegedly pimping out prostitutes online, a police official said on Thursday (17/03).

Yanwar Hidayat and Stefany Febriana, as well as two sex workers identified as Uli, 17, an underage high school student and Ririn, 25, who was six months pregnant, were picked up on Wednesday (16/03) in a hotel at Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.

"They were allegedly forced to serve in an online prostitution business," said Sr. Comr. Krishna Murti, general crimes director of the Jakarta Police.

Investigations revealed that the two suspects have run the business since last December, finding clients over social media and a website.

They set a fee of Rp 1 million ($76.46) for a short-time service of three hours, while a long-time service of six hours was priced at Rp 1.5 million.

The couple earned around Rp 350,000 from each transaction, while the sex workers were given Rp 200,000 per hour.

Police seized ID cards, cash, hotel receipts and contraception tools from the suspects, who were charged under the laws on child protection and human trafficking, facing up to 25 years in jail should they be found guilty.
