Police Arrest Two Men, 66-Year-Old Housewife in Medan Drug Bust
Medan. North Sumatra Police have detained two men and one woman suspected of acting as couriers for an international drug ring.
The arrest was a result of undercover work by officers who had pretended to order ecstasy pills from two of the suspects, identified C.S. and R.Y., in the provincial capital of Medan, West Medan Police chief Comr. Siswandi told reporters on Sunday.
The two men arrived at the transaction accompanied by C.S., who claims to be a housewife and mother. The three were arrested immediately after handing over the drugs to undercover officers, who also seized one kilogram of crystal meth and 200 ecstasy pills.
"These three suspects have made 10 transactions and they distributed [the drugs] in night clubs in Medan. According to their confessions, the crystal meth and ecstasy pills came from Malaysia," Siswandi said.
Sixty-six-year-old C.S. said she turned to dealing narcotics in order to support her child, adding that she earns Rp 3 million ($203) from making one delivery.
Should they be found guilty of breaking Indonesia's Narcotics Law, the suspects could face a maximum of 20 years in prison.
