Samarinda. The East Kalimantan Regional Police are probing a video posted by a foreign national, branding the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) as the capital of corruption and nepotism.

On the TikTok handle @bule_ngoceh, the individual, clad in blue attire and cap, filmed himself against an empty land backdrop, dubbing Nusantara as the hub of corruption and nepotism. He lamented the absence of a water supply for bathing.

The Head of Public Relations of the East Kalimantan Regional Police, Commissioner Artanto, said that they are investigating the account that uploaded the video.

"We're actively investigating and profiling the involved account," Artanto said on Wednesday.

Proficient in Bahasa Indonesia, the TikTok user @bule_lovers said his current location was in IKN, an acronym denoting the corruption-nepotism capital. He elaborated on IKN's development and the water shortage issue, with water pipes still coming from Jakarta.

Nusantara, Indonesia's future capital, is arguably the country's most ambitious project. With a total investment of $33 billion, it relocates Indonesia's capital from Jakarta to East Kalimantan, largely backed by private funding. The government earmarks 20 percent of construction costs, allocating Rp 39.8 trillion for this year's "city for all" project.

President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo announced dual Independence Day ceremonies in Nusantara and Jakarta, symbolizing the capital's relocation. He will lead Nusantara's event, while his successor, Prabowo Subianto, attends Jakarta's.

Scheduled to commence work from Nusantara in July, President Jokowi awaits confirmation on water supply from the Sepaku Semoi Dam.

"We've inaugurated the Sepaku Dam. Now, we await pumping operations to distribute water to Nusantara's structures and residences," he affirmed last week.
